Gender, justice, truth and reconciliation overlap in many places and in many ways. Too often Truth and Reconciliation Commissions are gender-neutral, marginalizing indigenous peoples even more, while dominant groups control the process.
In a workshop with panelists of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada and the Native Women’s Association of Canada , presenting will review efforts by Canadian Aboriginal organizations to end the historic cultural consequences and persistent Wounds and discrimination against our peoples. Participants will engage in a discussion about relevant gender-based cultural indicators from Truth and Reconciliation Commissions, strengths of indigenous knowledge as a means of progress, and the critical role of allies / non-natives in reconciliation Successful.
