Congress by the numbers
- just over 1200 proposals from 92 countries were submitted in response to the "Call for Participation"
- some 750 people are associated with the over 300 presentations that make up the official (thematic) program
- of those presenters, 6% are under 24 and 6% are 65+
- 65 presenters identify as Aboriginal, 31 as women with disabilities
- the Arts & Culture program includes 10 exhibits and installations, 4 films, 1 play, 3 comedians, and over 40 acts and performers
- as of 29 June 2011, 1850 people were registered to attend
- 23% (424) of registered delegates are under 30 years of age and 7% (122) are 65+
- the over 800 women coming from outside Canada include 20 from Kenya, 21 from Mexico, 12 from India, 15 from Japan, 17 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 125 from the US, 7 from Mongolia, 8 from Colombia, and 1 from Guam
- 745 women from around the world applied to our Solidarity Fund - over 80 of them will be attending Women's Worlds 2011 thanks to this channel of support
- financial support has come from all directions of Canada: 5 federal government departments, 2 provincial government departments, and 1 territory; 15 universities; 10 labour unions; 6 NGOs & foundations; 3 law firms; 1 bank
- planning was undertaken by some 75 volunteer members of 7 organizing committees and 3 advisory bodies over 4 years
- until 2011, the congress secretariat consisted of just 1 full-time and 4 part-time staffers
- by the end, over 300 people will have contributed time and talent as volunteers
- this 11th installation of Women's Worlds marks the 30th anniversary of the series
- this is the 1st Women's Worlds congress to operate in 3 official languages - English, French, Spanish
